What is NASCA?

NASCA is the national association for NASC managers and other senior NASC team members within the disability and health sectors.

Mission

NASCA is a not for profit incorporated society whose mission is:

To provide leadership and assistance to members to implement New Zealand’s foundation document, the Treaty of Waitangi, and the two sector documents, the New Zealand Disability Strategy and Health of Older People Strategy to change Aotearoa/New Zealand from a disabling to a fully inclusive society.

Objective

NASCA’s current objective is to inform a vision for needs assessment and service co-ordination:

• That focuses on the process and outcomes of the NASC functions.
• Where standards are agreed to ensure the NASC functions are centred on the needs of disabled and older people and their family/whanau.

• That works towards the integration of the NASC functions intersectorally.

Executive

NASCA has an active Executive who organise quarterly meetings for members which provide a collegial forum for sharing common interests, challenges and concerns. The Executive also provide a focal point for queries from; people who use NASC services, similar organisations and funders and policy makers of NASC services.

Membership

Each NASC ‘contract’ held by an organisation allows one principal membership of NASCA. This enables attendance and voting rights at quarterly meetings, the potential to be on the NASCA Executive and the opportunity to represent the NASCA viewpoint on committees, advisory groups and projects.

Each NASC organisation may have any number of associate memberships, which enables attendance at quarterly meetings and relevant information to be received throughout the year. Membership fees are set annually.
