A brief history of NASCA

 

Timeline

1999: The need for a networking group for NASCS was recognised and a meeting held in Wellington.
Craig Hutchison, Jennifer Moor, Pam Greenaway, Helen Green and others were among this group.
2000-2001: A decision was made to formalise the group.
A Constitution was developed.
2001 : The group formed an incorporated society with Tim Slow as first President.
2006: First biennial NASCA conference held in Hamilton.
2008: Second NASCA conference held in Christchurch.
2009: Launch of the NASC National Certificate Disability Support Assessment, Planning, and Coordination (DSPAC)
The Te Arero group, now the Maori caucus of NASCA, was brought under the umbrella of NASCA.

NASC has been involved in the following projects during 2008-2010

  • Development of the Interim NASC ASD Guideline
  • NASC Document Review
  • Review of NASC Standards
  • Establishment of NASC National Reviewer Role
  • Support of the Socrates Programme
  • Establishment of Virtual ASD NASC Team
  • Support of the DSAPC national certificate pilot programme with Careerforce
  • Self Assessment Literature Review and Stocktake
